YAKERS chews continue to be lovingly handcrafted in the Himalayas, following age-old traditions that make each chew unique. 1 The milk gets delivered from local farms, local dairies and individual herders in the Himalayas.

2 The milk is turned into cheese

Once the cream is removed to make sure each chew is low in fat, we add a small amount of lime juice and salt to the recipe to help solidify the cheese.

3 The cheese is then compressed

Most of the moisture is removed from the hardened solids using a muslin cloth, this squeezes out any excess to get the cheese ready to rest.

4 Time to rest

Once the blocks are formed, they are left to rest for a few days, making them the perfect texture to be cut.
Then cut and smoke dried

Once each chew has been cut to size, they are hung on a wire grid in specialist smoking sheds and smoke-dried for 28 days.
